Home Hydrogen

Qualico Communities and ATCO Energy Systems partnered to develop North America’s largest hydrogen-heated community near Edmonton, supporting Alberta’s decarbonization efforts. It was crucial to communicate that Home Hydrogen offers the same comfort, reliability, and safety as natural gas.

To do this, we created the Home Hydrogen brand, which included a logo, design system, and campaign materials showcasing the benefit of homes powered by hydrogen. We then built an interactive installation within HomeOne, Alberta’s first fully functional showhome powered by hydrogen. The installation showcased hydrogen's value to the province's energy economy by highlighting its production, sustainability, safety, and global applications. Branded houseware items were also created to reinforce key messages in the living spaces throughout the showhome. We then got the word out with a targeted PR and communications strategy that built trust in hydrogen heating and earned over $2.2M in media coverage.

The HomeOne demonstration in Sherwood Park has become a vital proof-of-concept, hosting government officials, industry leaders, and media.
